Visible Image Son Stamps

An super busy card
Ok! not too inspiring this one but again it was a quick play with my craft stash.
Was rather tired and struggling for inspiration.
In retrospect I suppose for a male card it ticks boxes as they don't like too much fuss.
I created a background using Distress Oxides then placed Visible Image fibres stencil over the top and added a different colour ink.
Stamped the Son stamp set again Visible Image and added some background stamps from the
Ink Splats collection

Visible Image Union Jack Stencil & Tattered Lace British Legion Die

Oh how I love this stencil.
When I got it I remembered that I have bought the Tattered Lace Limited Edition British Legion poppy set.
I was initially going to do the Union Jack in greys and have the Red poppy as a contrast. I still have this in mind to make. I think the greys and the distressed nature of the flag would work very well against the contrast of the  red Poppy.
I also want to do a red cross in the poppy's.
The finished cards are all 6x6
I inked the stencil using distress inks
The Poppy and sentiment was Tattered Lace British Legion set
The Middle Card is using Visible Image Feel The Beat Stamps set

Pixie Powders and Visible Image Time Stamps

So! first play with Pixie Powders
Again another product I need to get time to play with (no pun intended here)
Have seen these on various projects but never used them.
I bought some from ebay and watched a few Youtube videos, as you do.
I quite like the backgrounds you can create and it really is a hit or a miss with what your results are.
Like many of my craft sessions these days, I really don't have that much time to play.
I quite like the results and no doubt I will play more with these powders.
Stamps used are by Visible Image

Baby Shower Boxes

My friend at works daughter was home from Abu Dhabi where she is living.
She is pregnant and my friend was throwing her a baby shower.
To take some of the pressure off her I said I would make her some baby shower boxes.
I started off with plain white boxes but they had a more wedding theme so decided to print the card with a backing paper I had designed a while back which was on a Baby CD.
I then printed of sheets of Baby Fisher sentiment.
The boxes were Tonic Studios Balloon Weigh box ( a favorite of mine) once cut and you have a box out of one sheet of card.
Cut a blue mat which I had colour matched and printed. The mat was cut using a circle die (again Tonic)
Then used a Tonic scalloped circle die to cut the Baby Fisher/
I cello bagged Haribo blue hearts and popped inside

Indigo Blue stamps (I think)

A wee quick card today using some free stamps from a magazine.
Not sure if they were Indigo Blue stamps
The picture doesn't show it but there is sparkle pen used over the top to add a shimmer

Die-Cutting essentials Merry Christmas Die

I bought Die Cutting Essentials issue 29 magazine purely for this die.
This is just it in it's most basic for. No inking, glittering or gems.
The purpose of these is to make up batches to put in gift boxes for my Mother in Law and mother
so really speed was really what I wanted with these but still something that looked good.
Obviously with a bit more effort these dies could really come to life but for batch making they also produce very passable cards that don't take forever to put together. Sometimes this is what we need.

Distress Oxides and Thistle

I've had Distress Oxides for a while now but I'm still getting to grips with them.
I am still undecided how I feel about them. I know people rave about them but I am not currently there yet. I probably just need more practice.
Here are 2 of my cards made playing with Distress Oxides
The Thistle stamp is a stamp from Crafty Stamps
The Hello sentiment is Tonic Studios

The Loss of a Pet Card & Box

What do you say to a colleague when they are heartbroken over the passing of their faithful old dog?
Being an animal lover myself I get very emotional when I know someone is going through this.
We lost my beloved cat Jess in December and the pain was unbearable.
I made this set for a colleague. I sneaked it onto her desk as I didn't want to make a fuss and knew she wouldn't want to talk. She would be too busy trying to keep her emotions at bay bless her.
Anyway. I am a sucker for a box. You can use them for many occassions
Box made using Tonic Studios Cathedral Box
Card is 6x6 square layers are Tonic Studios as is the sentiment
The paw print is a from a Visible Image stamp set

The box had some chocs in it and the card included a packet of Forget me Not seeds

Gift Box of 5x5 Cards

In the previous post I shared a box I created in Brother Scan n Cut canvas

Here is a finished project. I have managed to fit 7 cards and envelopes into it without straining the box.
I have kept the cards pretty simple to enable me to fit more in and for quick makes to either gift or to make more of to sell for a charity event.

Scan N Cut Box for 5x5 inch cards

I like to gift cards to friends and family but always seem to end up buying boxes from the likes of The Works. The problem with that is, they aren't the correct size, shape, pattern and they add to the cost of a Random Act of Kindness. I'd prefer to spend that on other crafty goodies or crafting essentials.
I decided 5x5 inch cards were a good size as the larger cards are more expensive for people to post.
I know Pootles does some fab tutorials and I thought possibly I could make a boxed envelope from my envelope punch board that would accommodate 5 or more cards and envelopes. However this wasn't practical.
I noticed Tonic had released a box template for index cards but this wasn't big enough for my requirements and with a £34 price tag, I couldn't justify that kind of spend. I love Tonic products but my house is creaking at the seams with the amount of dies I have.
Months ago i bought the Scan n Cut and decided that i needed to get it out and play.
So with a bit of measuring and an wee quality check and another pair of eyes my engineer husband gave it a look over.

I am more than happy with the results. I put this together in brother Canvas. It's pretty simple and not too fancy but it is ideal for what I wanted it for.

Tim Holtz Crazy Cats

I must admit to actually ADORING the Tim Holtz Crazy range. I have the Dogs, Cats and Birds sets.
So I had stamped an A4 sheet with the Cats a while back and coloured them using pro-markers.
They have been sitting patiently waiting to be made into cards.
I keep saying I'll make cards to donate to The Cats Protection charity but then I don't want to part with them when they are made. (how sad eh)

So here are the cards all made up. Papers used are from Tonic paper pads.

Woodware - Left Hanging

A bit of a Woodware theme going on here. That's what happens when you look for one stamp set, you always see more that you need.
Stamped this cute stamp and coloured it with pro-markers.
Matted it onto black die-cut to make it stand out
The backing papers used for matting and layering were from a Tonic paper pad.
Again I stamped the sentiment onto the square the image was on using the Tim Holtz Stamping platform. I love how it gives you the confidence to line up the stamp and also know if you ever under ink then stamping again will mean it is perfectly lined up. So no ruined projects.

Golf Shoe Card

Having a Golfer husband. I just had to get this Woodware Stamp set. Great value at £6
As with most mens cards. I tried to make this as plain as possible. I don't think the men folk like our need to put ribbon and pearls onto everything.
So with my un-fussy head on.

  • Stamped image with Memento ink pad
  • Coloured it with Pro-Markers
  • Matted onto black card
  • Matted more white card onto black card and stuck onto main card
  • Stamped the ball and wording on using my Tim Holtz stamping platform (really beginning to love it) what did I do without it?
I hope you like it. i think I will make more just like this in various colours. hand to have for any of his friends.

Woodware Sneakers Card

Was asked to make a card for a Gala Maid
The little girl was 12 so had to be something (not too cute) or babyish
I thought the Woodware Sneakers stamp would do the trick (we call them Trainers) in the UK
Stamped onto a white die cut square and used my Tim Holtz stamping platform to position the stamp. This came in super handy when stamping the star on the shoe.
I coloured it with Promarkers.
The backing paper is from a Tonic Studios paper pad
Circle dies for sentiment are Tonic
Black squiggle shapes ar Tatter Lace Tuck-ins dies
Sentiment was printed off.

Hope you like it.

Tonic Buildables Hippo

Hi Crafters

I seem to be going through a 6x6 phase. I am trying to take into account the cost of postage as sending out an 8x8 comes under large letter so nearly £1 to send!!

So this Hippo is so super cute,  I love it!!

I made it using grey pearlised card. To add a bit more dimension I inked the edges with black ink and assembled the hippo with foam pads.
The added Nuvo drops to the eyes to add a bit more dimension.
The Baby balloons are a Tonic die too. I cut 2 out and offset the grey with white underneath, then I placed the white letters in the balloons to make them pop.
The blue  paper is from a paper pad from the pound shop.
To add a bit of interest and make the hippo stick out I matted 2 scalloped circles onto the card and put the hippo onto them.
A few pearils in the corners were added to finish it off.

Creative Stamping Mag Number 41

Hi Crafters

Another 6x6 card today

This is one of those cards that we never like to make. I usually have a few Sympathy cards or Thinking of You cards in my card box ready for those times they are needed.

This is very simple and plain but that was what I wanted.

I matted and layered cream pearilised card onto black card.
Then stamped the feather and sentiment onto a smaller piece of cream card and matted this onto black card. The placement of the stamps were made so much easier using my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform.
I then mounted it onto the center of the card with foam pads just to give it a bit of dimension.

Both stamps were from the Creative Stamping Magazine issue 41

Creative Stamping Magazine 42

Hi Crafters

Today I am sharing with you a 6x6 card.

I made this with the fabulous free stamps in the Creative Stamping Magazine number 42.
I don't do many princess cards but I had to have the magazine as the stamp set included a unicorn, playing cards etc and loads of super inspiration inside the magazine.
The backing paper is from a Tonic paperpad. I added faux stitching to add a bit of interest.

Please feel free to leave a comment even just to say hi.

Thanks for dropping by

Tonic Buildables Owl

Hi crafters.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Today I am sharing with you a 6x6 card I made using the super cute Tonic Buildables Owl.

This was such a hoot to craft with (sorry couldn't resist)
So easy to craft with, I can see the various colours and textures to use with this being endless and suitable for so many occasions.
The sentiment is one of my stamps that I designed when I had my little craft business and its so apt for this character and card.
The paper is surprisingly from the pound shop. I got a 6x6 paper pad and for £1 how could I resist.
Hope you like.
Feel free to leave a comment even if it's just to let me know there are crafters out there who drop by.

Stay Wild Visible Image Card

Another Visible Image Stamps card.
Used Stay Wild set.
Using Distress inks I swooshed the colours onto them concentrating on trying to keep the blue to the center of the card.
Added a mask and spritzed some water to lift some of the colour then dried and stamped the Image, sentiment and smaller horses.

Stand Out Visible Image Card

By now you will probably have seen a pattern emerging. I am having a a bit of a love affair with Visible Image stamps.
On this one I was on the verge of putting it in the bin as I really thought it was a bit over the top as I usually don't do really grungy
When my hubby & my 14 year old son clapped eyes on it their reaction was. That's really cool!
I shared it on Visible Image facebook page and I got really positive feedback.
So what can I say? Typical crafter...forever critical of my makes

Win & Tonic DT April Challenge

Another blog challenge going on over at the Win & Tonic blog.
Winners are chosen at random. So anyone has a chance of winning.
Up for grabs this month to the luck winner is a set of Nuvo brush markers. I'm sooooo jealous. I don't own these myself but they look fab.
Here is my Easter make to inspire you.

Visible Image - Music Speaks & Distress Oxides

So my distress oxides arrived Yay!!!
So it became apparent that I need an Ink blending tool as the make up sponges weren't fit for the job.
They are now on order but like a true crafter, I'd waited long enough for the Ink pads to arrive and had to play.
So I chose 3 colours out of the 12 and layed down colour on the card.
This was my second attempt at this card as the first one I had stamped the image in Memento
but once the ink was put down it dulled the image with it's chalky style finish.
So start again!!
So colour layed down and blended rather clumsily with my (not fit for purpose) make-up sponges
I splashed with water to get the colours to react.
Pretty happy with just the effect of the colours I then set about stamping
For this I used another new toy
The Tim Holtz Stamping Platform
It made positioning the sound waves etc super easy and adding the sentiment straight
Love it!
Once done I didn't want to overdo it or over grunge as I loved the colours.
So, matted onto black then put onto a white 8x8 card

Another Visible Image Face It card

As with my previous post I have used the Visible Image face It stamp set
Starting with a 7x7 inch piece of white card
Stamped and embossed the image and sentiment
I used a Big and Juicy stamp pad and just layed down bands of colour, with no plan
I then splashed some colour on it to lift some colour and add effect.
Using a cracked glass mask I then added some colour to add some interest.
Using the same mask I then added some Creative Expressions Glitter Kiss around the edge to lift it and give a bit of sparkle.
Really happy with how this one turned out.

Visible Image Mr Bone Jangles

I wanted a card deemed fit and cool for the likes of a teenager to like.
Started with a 7x7 inch piece of white card
Stamped and embossed all images in black
using distress inks I layed down some colour
I then used a cracked window and brick wall mask to add some random pattern
Darkened the edges with black ink to draw your eye to the centre.
Then matted onto white then black card and mounted onto a white 8x8 card

Visible Image Face It card

Going through a wee love affair with Visible Image stamps.
My first taste of crafting was stamping then I got into other things (as you do)!
So to create this one I cut a 7x7 inch piece of white card stock.
I stamped and embossed all of the black images and sentiment
I did a colour wash in Faded Jeans Distress Ink (if I remember right)
Then layed more colour down.
I used a mask to add some texture then to add a bit more texture I used Creative Expression Mousse

Hope you like

First Play with Tim Holtz Stamping Platform

Ok! I have stamped for more years than I'll admit to.
It is what first got me into paper-crafting many moons ago.
When people complained that stamping was hard, I never quite understood.
Yeh I'd botched a card putting the sentiment on squint or hadn't stamped it perfectly
(engage swear words)
I'd even ruined a piece of card with not getting the image completely perfect, lined it up wrong or put a lovely dirty ink mark where it wasn't wanted. And sometimes even for a crafter you don't want a butterfly on every project
Heck, looking at all of the above, stamping can be a blooming right hit and miss.
So when my favourite company Tonic teamed up with Tim Holtz (all stand for Sir Tim)
to create the Stamping platform I sat up like a Meercat and paid attention.
Well! it arrived on Saturday.
So I'm impressed with the build of it, very well made, a good weight.
One gripe. It only comes with 2 magnets. I knew this when I ordered it. There was an option to buy more but I did think this would be for people losing them and 2 would do the job. However most of the cards I have been testing this on were 7 inches square so a few more magnets are needed to secure the card down especial after you've stamped the image and open the lid back up. You don't want the card to move. (more now ordered from ebay)

On the card below I stamped the image, which stamped great but I did think (I wish that was a bit blacker) think my ink pad is needing replaced.
I re-inked the stamp and stamped again and because everything is in the exact same position the image stamps perfectly on top of the first.
Placement of the sentiment is also much easier. You can line up and get right and no need for a steady hand.
All in all I really like it.
I have one stamp which is a Polymer Silhouette stamp giving me a bit of a hard time. I have used various stamps. At this point all polymer. I have yet to try out unmounted rubber like the Sheena Douglass ones so will report on how those perform.
Below is the simple card I made on the first trial of the platform.
Stamps used are Visible Image Face It set & sentiments are also from a pack from Visible image

Little Gift Box

So I made this little box.
The finished result didn't turn out as I hoped. I must be hones. I do always struggle when using Mousses, waxes etc as I always feel the effect is too messy and a bit Homemade.
But hey ho trying things out of my comfort zone so a bit of messy crafting it was.
The box I have made these loads of times. It's all in one and i got the original idea from a Pootles video.
Made the box using black card stock, cut a Tonic Die and coloured it with Creative Expressions Mouse. Punched out some flowers from Tonic Petal Pairs coloured again with the mousse and did a double colour of centre using Nuvo drops. Added some washi tap around the side of the box and topped with a Mother die cut (again) Tonic.
Then added a touch of mousse to the edges to finish off.
So here is the finished box. As I say a bit grungy for my liking.

Thanks for dropping by.
